Dryer Flex Hose Installation Tips ()
The most popular flex hose in our industry is the aluminum flex, both for its safety and its efficiency. To get it to fit over the rigid pipe coming through the Dryerbox, it's best to roll flat the ridges in the first two inches of the pipe. Firmly applying pressure, we can flatten those ridges and open it up quite a bit. We'll also take a scissors and cut two or three slots in it to make it a little bit easier to get it started.
To keep the flex from sliding off the rigid pipe, there are a few tips. One is to spray with an adhesive in the area there to make it a little more grippier. The other option is to take a pliers and, at the very, very end of the pipe, bend maybe two or three areas of the pipe up to act as a catch or a hook. Once we clamp down on it it will make it difficult for the pipe to slide off.
With the three and a half inch models, it's important to "squish" the pipe almost like a hamburger to get it to slide up over the oval shape of the rigid pipe. The four inch hose clamp worm drive (or similar) tightened down will bond it to the pipe and keep it from sliding off. It's also good to tug on it after you're done to simulate the connection to make sure it will not slide off as you're moving the dryer back.
With the wire-type foil flex, we again "squish" it to deform over the oval shaped pipe that the 350 or the 3D Dryerbox causes. Then we slide up or install the worm drive clamp which will conform to that oval shape. Then tighten down. Again, making sure by pulling on it that it has a secure fit and will not fall off.
